# llGetInventoryDesc

*LSL function*

```lsl
string string llGetInventoryDesc(string item);
```

- `string item`: Name of the item in the prim's inventory.

- Returns: `string`
- Energy: 10

Returns the description string of the specified inventory item.

Returns a [string](https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/string) with the description of the inventory **item**.

```lsl title="How to use" frame="terminal"
string result = llGetInventoryDesc("");
```

## Caveats

- If **item** has no description an empty string is returned.
