# llSetVelocity

*LSL function*

```lsl
void llSetVelocity(vector velocity, integer is_local);
```

- `vector velocity`: Linear velocity vector to apply (in meters per second).
- `integer is_local`: Boolean. If TRUE, velocity is treated as a local directional vector; if FALSE, as a global region vector.

- Energy: 10

Sets the linear velocity of a physical object to velocity. If local is TRUE, velocity is treated as a local directional vector; if FALSE, as a global region directional vector. Has no effect on non-physical objects.

Applies velocity to object

Instantaneous velocity not dependent on object energy or mass.

```lsl title="How to use" frame="terminal"
llSetVelocity(ZERO_VECTOR, 0);
```
