About these docs

Unofficial documentation. lsl.dev is a community site. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Linden Lab. Second Life and Linden Lab are trademarks of Linden Research, Inc. For official resources, see create.secondlife.com.

The site merges two sources and states on each page which one a piece of content comes from.

Descriptive prose, caveats, notes and examplesThe official LSL Wiki on the Second Life Wiki

Where the two disagree on structured facts, LSL Definitions wins. Wiki prose is kept as written in the original revisions; it is not summarized or rewritten. The main reference leaves out functions, events and constants that LSL Definitions marks as deprecated or private. Historical wiki pages remain in the wiki archive.

SourceSnapshot
LSL Definitionslsl-definitions main branch at commit 23e2d11, dated 9 October 2026; refreshed from GitHub by an automated sync
LSL WikiEnglish export assembled on 10 October 2026; newest included revision 2026-10-06

The snapshot holds 2,271 wiki pages and yields 501 functions, 42 events and 1,042 constants. Content can lag behind the live wiki and the current definitions. A definition does not guarantee that a function is available in every region.

  • Wiki content is © Second Life Wiki contributors and Linden Research, Inc., used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. Each page that uses wiki content names the original article, revision, date and latest contributor, and links to the article’s history for the full list of authors. Adapted wiki content is shared under the same license.
  • LSL Definitions is used under the MIT license; the license text ships with the source snapshot.
  • The site’s own code is MIT licensed. That license does not apply to wiki content.

Both snapshots are checked into the repository. LSL Definitions is refreshed from GitHub by an automated sync; the wiki snapshot is an offline export. An offline importer turns them into the catalog used by the site, and neither the importer nor the build makes requests to the Second Life Wiki. Wiki markup is only partly rendered: templates the renderer does not know are shown as their original markup rather than guessed at, and the original wikitext of every page can be downloaded from its archive page.
